Guiyang – Andrew and Laura’s home, where I’ll be staying for the next few weeks

Well, I’ve arrived. A week ago I rolled up at my friends’ flat in Guiyang city, in Guizhou province in southern China, to end the outward half of my trip. The plan is to spend a few weeks here with Andrew and Laura and their daughter Katie before departing for the return leg after Christmas.

I’ve enjoyed riding through China so far, and I’m certainly looking forward to an extended rest. After that I’ll be riding down to South East Asia, then home via a route I haven’t quite finalised yet, but will be working on during my break in Guiyang.

I’ve enjoyed China so far; I flew from Seoul to Hong Kong so my route in has only been from there, through the south of the country. The weather has been warm and the food tasty, the accommodation has been cheap and the driving might look a little crazy but everyone is being used to striving around cyclists so it all works out. In fact, if you can get a visa then I’d definitely recommend you come here.

I’ll be getting a few more posts up here in the near future as I have a bit of a backlog to work through. For now, here are some pictures of South China so you can see what you’re missing. Zàijiàn (goodbye)!

Andrew joined me for the last couple of days through China. After six months riding on my own it was good to be led in from the cold.
